Sizes range from 40mm down to dust to create an easily compacted aggregate.
MOT Type 1 named after the Ministry of Transport, specification for granular sub-base material is the most widely used approved sub-base in the construction industry.
In order for a product to be classed as 'Type 1' quality it must comply with the Ministry specification for Highway Works, clause 803 (SHW 803).
MOT Type 1 can be made from Granite, Limestone or clean Crushed Concrete.
The product is crushed to 40mm down to dust creating an aggregate containing a range of particle sizes that is easy to compact with excellent load bearing qualities.
This product is not to be confused with scalpings which have a higher fines content and subsequently less load bearing capability.
Ideal for:
Hard-standings, haul roads, building sub-bases, path/road/highway/driveway/patio sub-bases. A must for applications that require certified material to be used.

Our high quality 20mm ballast is a mixture of sand and gravel. Particle size varies from 0.1mm to 20mm and is produced using a mixture of sharp sand and 4-20mm pea shingle.
The 20mm ballast is exceptionally versatile and is suitable for many domestic and commercial uses.
These include: mixing concrete for foundations and footings; concreting in fence posts; making concrete for paths, driveways, patio areas; bases for garden buildings, concrete flooring; as well as filling in any holes or cavities in construction projects.
Easy to use and simple and quick to mix.
For a general purpose concrete mix, use 1 part cement to 6 parts ballast.

Sand consisting of larger angular particles washed to remove clay and silt. The angular nature of sharp sand ensures that good drainage is maintained.
Sharp sand is standard across the construction industry for use in paving applications, e.g. dry bedding flagstones and block paving.
Sharp Sand is also used in floor screeding and external rendering applications, and ideal for concrete manufacture when mixed with gravel and cement.

Annual meadow grass ( poa annua ) is endemic to the northern hemisphere. Lindum make strenuous efforts to minimise the annual meadow grass content in their turf, but us not sold on the basis that it is free of annual meadow grass. Turf is available from us all year round.
